Man dies in hospital after car crashes into lamppost in north London
A man has died after a car hit a lamppost in north London in the early hours of this morning.
Police have launched an appeal following the fatal incident in Falloden Way, East Finchley, at 5.20am, in which a 45-year-old man was found in an old style red BMW 318.
The man, believed to be the driver, was treated by paramedics and was taken to a north London hospital, but was pronounced dead at 11.45am.
He has not yet been formally identified but the Met said his next of kin has been notified and a postmortem examination will take place in due course.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for witnesses who saw the car travelling northbound on Falloden Way before it struck the lamppost near the junction of Addison Way.
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
